A week on my own...

The test is starting; I get a week off from my trainer Ryan. It isn’t a week off that I asked for; it is a week off because Ryan gets to go have some fun and is taking time off of work. During the week he is gone I will be tested. My workouts will be on my own, no one watching, telling, or helping me push through them. For the next 6 days I will have to do what I have been doing for the last 10 weeks, but not with a trainer, this will all be on my own. I will have to push myself to do 15 push-ups with out giving up, I will have to tell myself “to slow down this isn’t a race” when doing my lunges, and I will have to pick the right pounds on the weights when doing my weight training. This is a challenge that I need to do so that I can be successful on my own, because one day I won’t have a trainer to hold my hand through workouts. Sure I workout everyday on my own and can do cardio like know ones business. A trainer gives you the strength that working out on your own doesn’t, he encourages you, he pushes you past your comfort zone, and he is the backbone that I need to get the extra weight off. Even when I am working out on my own he gives me pointers, like to increase my speed on the elliptical when it is becoming seemingly easy for me to do an hour or to start increasing the incline on the treadmill so I burn more calories. These may seem like little things that my trainer helps me with, but they are what make me successful and make it enjoyable to go to the gym whether working out with Ryan or on my own. I know each day I go into the gym this week will be a new experience for me, a new challenge, and a new start to the rest of my healthy life style change. Whether working out on my own or with my trainer I will be successful because I choose to be!
